Sunshiny Summer Success
Saturday, the 30th of June was a beautiful sunny day, with not a cloud or drop of hail in sight. In fact, the only thing brighter than the sun, was the happiness on everyone's faces who attended the Harris Primary East Dulwich Summer Fete! A huge thank you to all who came out to help celebrate our little school and raise some fantastic funds for our kids.
Over 400 fine folks spent a wonderful afternoon sipping on prosecco, cider and beer from Sarah’s Bar, sponsored by The Lordship Pub, drinking beautiful fresh smoothies, sticking their hands through the snotty nose lucky dip, getting a manicure, their face painted, enjoying delicious burgers and sausages, taking a turn at the tombola, testing their footwork at the football shoot out, and trying for the all enticing Jolly Jars! Massive shout out to Reception mum Gemma for all her work on the Jolly Jars.
In addition to all the fabulous stalls, folks were taking a guess at how many balloons were squeezed into Ms. Conduit’s brand new car. The answer: an impressive 111. Thank you Ms. Conduit for sacrificing your ‘new car smell’ and letting us replace it with a ‘fresh latex balloon scent’.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up and run the event. It simply does not happen without you. Thank you to all of you who donated tombola bottles and jolly jars. Kudos to all the bakers that entered the cake competition and a big congratulations to our winner, Iris Gittoes, and to our runners up Riley & Ostyn Walsh and Isobel Cunnington. To all the creative geniuses that submitted posters to help promote pollution awareness around the school, thank you! The winners from the younger years were Gaia, Rosa and Martha, and from the older years, Monty, Matilda, and Sophia. We look forward to seeing your artwork on display on the gate!
A special thank you to two amazing parent sponsors: If you enjoyed a delicious and perfectly cooked burger by Angus and the Firefly crew, and are hoping to recreate that incredible flavor on your own, please do stop into Firefly on Underhill Road and have a look at the incredible BBQs, smokers, chimineas, fire pits and pizza ovens. Firefly not only gave up time to plan and organise the spread, but also paid for all costs - thank you! And if you sat at the Arts & Crafts table, purchased a raffle ticket, or laid your eyes upon our beautiful fete flyers, then you’ve experienced the generosity of our own Dr. Mayoni and The Clinic in Honor Oak, who covered print costs, all arts & crafts supplies and donated one of our top raffle prizes. If you would like to look and feel your best while hosting a garden party around your new grill or fire pit, then stop in to The Clinic!
We're thrilled to announce that our net funds raised, after costs, come in at an amazing £4,660. An enormous number that we should all be proud to have raised. You have seen the beautiful Plus Rooms boards advertising the fete around town, we couldn’t have reached that total without their support and partnership.
30 people won some fantastic raffle prizes including our top prize a diamond necklace generously donated from Lila’s, our beautifully curated neighborhood jewelry store.
A full list of prizes and winning ticket numbers are below. NB We had quite a few tickets with just names and no contact details, so please do check if you have one of the lucky numbers!
While we are highlighting some of the fantastic folks who made this event such a success, we must take a moment to acknowledge two outstanding parents who made the fair our best one yet. Reception mum Alex, who constructed the maypole, sewed copious amounts of bunting, built the snotty nose lucky dip, and put the finishing touches on the fabulous look and feel of the event, kudos! Last but certainly not least, Year 1 and incoming Reception Mum, Annie Beaver, our new Summer Event Lead, for all her organizational prowess, emcee work and commitment to our school. Annie, you poured your heart and soul into this event and it showed. We all owe you a resounding round of applause and a tip of the hat. Cheers to you!
To relive the magic of the day, we've posted some pictures below, and talented Reception mum Suze has made "FoHPED Summer Fete - The Movie" - click to watch and enjoy!
What's next, you ask? Before the end of term, we're squeezing in a parents night out on Wednesday July 11th, and our final cake sale (and 2nd hand uniform sale) of the year on Friday July 13th. See you there, or at our (in)famous pub quiz in the fall!
